Table tennis news – Rob Loxley 23 November 2017

Tim Wright (Abbeydale TTC) is now a UKCC level one coach having qualified along with nineteen other students, under the tutorship of Table Tennis England’s coaches - Sally Shutt and Chris Parker at the Sheffield Institute of Sport. Their assessments took place on the 5th November under the scrutiny of Sally, Chris and Andrea Holt. The course which leads to a fully licensed qualification was also successfully negotiated by eleven other local players: - Abbeydale’s Zoltan Kulics, Simon Ryalls and Harry Sheen. Wadsley Bridge’s Trevor Parsons and Steve Cross were also successful as were Vulcan’s Vicky Johnston, Lewis Powell-Pepper and Rob Loxley. Craig Hastie (Scorpions), Dave Aspinall ( Hallam Grange) and Mazaffar Hussain (Sheffield United Community Foundation) completed the roll of successful local students.

In order to progress our sport throughout the city, the onus now falls squarely on the shoulders of these newly qualified coaches to pass on their knowledge and skills to other potential players in particular the youngsters in primary and junior schools.
