Two of the contenders for the second division crown clashed when Clifton ‘C’ hosted Wadsley Bridge ‘A’, where the visitors delivered a 6-4 result thanks to another Jack Cross maximum. Clifton’s most significant response came via a brace from Alan Redfern, who also featured in a doubles win alongside Richard Proctor.
In Division One, Abbeydale ‘C’s Ian Freeston notched a treble during the visit of Vulcan ‘D’. Rob Childs scored twice for the hosts and John Gialluca completed Abbeydale’s scoring with a win over Glyn Ward. Martin Green made the biggest impact for the visitors with wins over Gialluca and Childs.
Scorpions ‘A’ maintained top spot in the Premier Division with a narrow victory over a visiting Crookes ‘A’ side. Steve Chu took the solitary hat trick in a closely fought encounter. Alex Bland (2), Stephen Arliss (2) and Adam Szabo (1) countered Chu’s efforts and Bland and Szabo secured both points by adding the all important doubles to Scorpions' tally.
